Responsive Design with WordPress

Cover of Responsive Design with WordPress bookThere’s a new book out on one of our favorite topics. Responsive Design with WordPress by Joe Casabona was recently published and has great up-to-date information on the best practices of responsive design within the context of WordPress. It is aimed at intermediate level WordPress developers.

The book makes some assumptions about its audience. It has to. It assumes you understand HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, and MySQL – and that you’ve used WordPress before. If that describes you, then the it covers the following:

  1. What is Responsive Web Design?
  2. Creating a Basic WordPress Theme
  3. Making Your Theme Responsive: The Ground Floor
  4. Making Your Theme Responsive: Core Features
  5. Making Your Theme Responsive: Blog Features
  6. Using Responsive Theme Frameworks
  7. Techniques and Tutorials

This is all jammed into 208 pages that include full-color graphics and plenty of code samples. That means it is a very focused, and relatively quick-reading, book. Friendly through-and-through too.

Since all CyberChimps themes are responsive, you don’t have to be an expert at this yourself. But if you’re interested in learning what it takes to build responsive themes, or want to build your site from the foundation of a CyberChimps theme without undoing the responsive features, this book will give you the information you need. You can learn more about it at the author’s website.
