I have a site that’s been running Responsive for several years. The other day I noticed a major problem with the homepage which previously displayed a LayerSlider (using shortcode) but now displays the following… https://www.calderdaleframework.com/gd-home. This is an alternative homepage with no content other than layerslider shortcode.
I’m happy to purchase Pro version but I need to know that this will rectify the problem ie the theme can handle LayerSlider shortcodes. I don’t really understand why it no longer does. Layerslider (https://codecanyon.net/item/layerslider-responsive-wordpress-slider-plugin/1362246) is a well established, fully compatible. premium plugin with 100k sales and I’ve been running it on several sites without issue.
Running Responsive 3.2.1 on WP 5.2.3.
Hope you can advise.
Thank you for contacting us.
The updates in the responsive theme are done to make it compatible with elementor. So if you make your homepage using elementor then you can add a slider directly in elementor for your homepage. So the shortcode for the slider on the homepage has been removed.
Also, if you will go for the responsive pro then you will have ready-made free as well as pro website templates to which you can use for any website.
Thanks for getting back to me. The LayerSlider shortcode [layerslider id=”4″] on the page in question (https://www.calderdaleframework.com/gd-home) is inserted using Elementor.
When I just went to edit the page using Elementor it threw the following error…
The preview could not be loaded
ob_end_flush(): failed to send buffer of zlib output compression (0)
So, it would seem there is a fundamental error when trying to use LayerSlider. Do you agree? Will the same apply if I purchase the Pro version?
I agree with you, we will need to check what is exactly happening on your site.

It may have happened because you don’t have account on cyberchimps.com.
We checked layerslider with our theme with elementor as well as without elementor ( used shortcode directly on a page ).
It worked fine.
This kind of problem is usually caused by a conflict with another plugin or child theme code.
The best way to determine if the issue is being caused by a plugin is to temporarily disable all plugins except for layer slider.
If you can install plugins, install Health Check. On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins while you’re logged in to that session without affecting normal visitors to your site.
If you’re not seeing the same problem after completing the conflict test, then you know the problem was with the plugins you deactivated. To figure out which plugin is causing the problem, reactivate your other plugins one by one, testing after each until you find the one causing conflict.
I hope this helps!
A big thanks for this. If it’s working on your theme then, you’re right, it must be a plugin / child theme issue.
I’ll run these tests and hopefully get to the bottom of it.
