Blog Options

Blog Options allow you to control the Post layout – when the Post Page Element is active. Including sidebar location, posts excerpts, featured images, and meta data like Author name.

To access the Blog Options, in your WordPress Administration Panels go to Appearance > Theme Options > Blog > Blog Options.

Blog Options

  1. Sidebar Options – Select the image that represents the sidebar configuration you would like to use. The options are: No Sidebar, Sidebar Right, Sidebar Left, Two Sidebar Right and Sidebar Left and Right.
  2. Post Formats Icons – On/Off default is Off. To read more about Post Formats go here http://codex.wordpress.org/Post_Formats. The icons are: aside, audio, chat, default, gallery, image, link, quote, status, and video.
  3. Post Excerpts – On/Off default is Off. When set to “On”, two options will appear below which allow you to customize the Post Excerpt. A Post Excerpt is a summary or brief teaser of your post.
    • Read More Text – Allows you to customize the link text. Default is “Read More…”.
    • Excerpt Length – Allows you to customize the length of the excerpt before the link appears. Default is 55 characters.
  4. Featured Images – On/Off default is Off. Use this to enable or disable the use of post featured images
  5. Post Byline Author – On/Off default is Off. Use this to show or hide the Author meta data. SEO recommendation is On.
  6. Post Byline Categories – On/Off default is Off. Use this to show or hide the Category meta data. SEO recommendation is On.
  7. Post Byline Date – On/Off default is Off. Use this to show or hide the post Date creation meta data. SEO recommendation is On.
  8. Post Byline Comments – On/Off default is Off. Use this to show or hide the comments meta data. SEO recommendation is On.
  9. Post Byline Tags – On/Off default is Off. Use this to show or hide the Tags meta data. SEO recommendation is On.
  10. Click “Save Options” when done.

Blog Options

Please note that the Post Byline meta data are often considered SEO tools. Also, if none of these features are working correctly on you Blog Home/Front page, please check your settings under Appearance > Theme Options > Templates > Archive
