Dear Cyberchimps, I am new to WordPress. I want to try your Responsive theme. So I followed the instructions at https://cyberchimps.com/guide/child-theme-example/. I downloaded the zip file, uploaded it to my host. When I checked the functions.php file in the theme directory, it was blank. Looking at WordPress instructions (e.g. https://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes), the functions.php should include commands to enqueue the styles from the parent. Overall, I’m confused about how the child you provided (Responsive Child Theme) will stay updated from the parent Responsive Theme.
Now, when I used the code provided by WordPress for the functions.php file, it renders the placeholder “Hello World” content without any formatting, making me think that my WordPress code creates a situation that does not work.
Can you please clarify? If I can’t figure this out quickly, I am going to have to move on to another theme. Thanks!

Good to hear that you want to use our Responsive theme. Yes, you are right the function.php is empty in our child theme. We provide the child theme zip only to add the files which are required.
After downloading you need to add the code in functions.php and style.css as it is given in our documentation https://cyberchimps.com/guide/child-theme-example/ then it will work.
