I am using the theme One Page Business Pro and I noticed that the navigation menu does not respond has it should (some menu items do not change colour when active nor the previously selected item changes to the “inactive” colour).
When debugging I identified the following uncaught error:
Uncaught TypeError: $ is not a function
at dispatch (jquery.js?ver=1.12.4:3)
at r.handle (jquery.js?ver=1.12.4:3)
(anonymous) @ main.js?ver=4.7.1:48
dispatch @ jquery.js?ver=1.12.4:3
r.handle @ jquery.js?ver=1.12.4:3
Could this be a bug of the template?
Thank you very much in advance.

I installed One Page Business Pro Theme on wordpress 4.7.1 but did not face any issue
Can you please check if there exist a plugin conflict due to which you are facing this issue?
Have you tried zeroing on which plugin conflicts with the theme?
First, we need to confirm it is a plugin conflict –
The best way to do that is to disable all plugins and try to load the theme – does it work?
Yes – means it is a plugin conflict.
So the next step is to zero in on which plugin is impacting the theme –
Please enable each plugin one by one and check the issue theme option – so you can find out which plugin causes it to break.
– More over can you please let me know which version of theme you are using?
– Also, how you debug the error? Have you created debug.log file?

I have disabled all plugins and it still doesn’t work. I am using wordpress 4.7.1 and the 1.1 version of the theme.
I’ve decided to check the demo page – https://demos.cyberchimps.com/one-page-business-pro/ – and I realised that it has a similar problem to the one I’ve reported (the behaviour when you select Home, About or Services in the menu is different from the behaviour when you select Portfolio, Team, Testimonial or Contact).
To debug I just used Chrome DevTools. When I inspected the demo page I got this:
Uncaught TypeError: $ is not a function
at dispatch (jquery.js?ver=1.12.4:1)
at r.handle (jquery.js?ver=1.12.4:1)
(anonymous) @ main.js?ver=4.7.1:3
dispatch @ jquery.js?ver=1.12.4:1
r.handle @ jquery.js?ver=1.12.4:1
Could you please have a look at it? Thank you!

Apologies for the delay in reply.
I checked into the browser console and found that there exist the issue regarding JQuery. It displays “$ is not a function”.
We will definitely look into this.
But I am not able to understand your issue regarding the behavior of menu.
What I checked is.
– When you put a mouse on menu, the menu color changes to Yellow.
– When you remove the mouse, it again changes to white.
– On menu option click i.e. on active stage, it becomes Yellow.
– Only for the “Home” option there is no color change. (Are you referring to this issue)
– Can you please elaborate the issue and make me understand, so that I can help you with that?

Thank you for your answer. Sorry for this late reaction but I’been away for a week.
Yes, I am referring to the issue you had when you select “Home”. However, in my case on the demo page, the same happens (or better nothing happens) also when I click on “About”. And on my website (www.focusup.eu) I have the same problem when I click on Services, Team and Contact but not when I click on About.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the clarification.
I checked your website. I can see that, the menu items About, Services, Portfolio, Team and Contact have #d6075a color. On hover too, this color is being applied. Also, for the active link, this same color is seen.
If I have understood correctly, do you wish to change the hover and active colors ?
If yes, then which colors do you want in those places ?

Thank you for checking the website. I want the active link to be black and the non-active #d6075a.
Everything is well with the behaviour of Welcome or About but not with the other menu items.
In order for you to better understand what I mean I would like to kindly ask you to do the following:
1. Go to http://www.focusup.eu
2. Click on “About”: OK
– “Welcome” changes to #d6075a (non-active colour), as desired
– “About” changes to black, as desired
3. Click on “Services”: PROBLEMS
– “About” does not change to #d6075a as it should – it remains black,
– “Services” does not change either – it remains #d6075a.
For me, the fact that none of the menu items changes colour indicates that there is a problem with the way the event is treated.
4. Click on “Welcome”: OK
– “About” changes to #d6075a, as desired
– “Welcome” changes to black, as desired.
5. Click on “Portfolio”, “Team” or “Contact”: PROBLEMS
– “Welcome” changes to #d6075a,as desired
– “Portfolio”, “Team” or “Contact” do not change to black (respectively)
– “About” does not remain to #d6075a as it should but changes to black!
Again for me, the fact that About changes colour clearly indicates that there is something wrong.
Please let me know if I you need any additional clarification. Thank you.

Thanks for the detailed explanation.
It may be possible that the issue is seen due to conflict in CSS being applied from theme and custom CSS been given. Can you please confirm once, if there has been custom CSS added for the theme ?
February 9, 2017 at 6:41 am #260911
Yes I did add custom CSS but I have tested a possible conflict and the behaviour of the menu is exactly the same when I remove the custom CSS. If you want I can remove the custom CSS for you to be able to check it by yourself. If yes, let me know when.
February 9, 2017 at 10:57 pm #260928
Can you just remove the custom CSS you have added for menus and add below CSS? Save the changes and reload the page in private window or in incognito mode.
.navbar-default .navbar-nav > li > a
.navbar-default .navbar-nav > li > a:hover
.navbar-default .navbar-nav > li > a:active, .navbar-default .navbar-nav > li > a:focus
*Note : change the colors according to your need.
Do let me know if you are still facing the issue.

Just did that and the problem continues.

I wish you would share the “proper CSS” in this case to everyone, instead of making it to just one person. This “Home” button color issue is the same for all of us (it does not change color like the other menu choices do.)

I discussed this issue with our development team and they said it a theme design. Home link in the menu points to the Main/Primary section of the site and it is kept with the default White color. This section cannot be enabled or disabled.
