Introduction to the Response Core Framework
Overview:
Response is not just another WordPress theme. It is also a powerful and robust framework that gives designers and developers the tools to build themes that are beautiful on the outside AND the inside. Everything you need is baked right into Response including a fully responsive 12-column CSS grid powered by Foundation, a class-based theme and page meta option interface, and a flexible hook system utilizing core WordPress functionality. Let’s take a closer look at some of the amazing things the Response Core WordPress Framework has to offer.
Responsive 12-Column CSS Grid:
Our grid is powered by Foundation, an open-source CSS framework that is fully responsive and feature rich. A theme built on Response will automatically resize look great on all desktop, tablet, and mobile devices. This also means that Response supports a wide-range of design tools including buttons, UI Elements, modals, and much more. Be sure to head on over to the Foundation Docs page to find out how you can use the Response Core Framework to take your theme to the next level.
Theme Options and Page Meta Options:
Do you want to design a great theme but are struggling with creating and managing your own theme options panel? Response has you covered with our Theme Options and Page Meta Options Framework which includes our Drag and Drop Elements Interface. User experience was a primary focus in the development of Response, and our Options Framework gives you the tools to create a simple, easy to use, and robust Theme and Page Options experience.
Hooks, Actions, and Filters:
The Response Core Framework is powered by a system of hooks, actions and filters which utilizes core WordPress functionality. Our codebase not only powers our Drag and Drop Elements Interface, but also allows for designers and developers to easily set up custom templates, add and remove code elements, and have complete control over the back and front end of a Response-based theme.
We offer several examples of how to use our hook, action and filter system in both a parent and child-theme setting, and our codex includes a complete list of all of our hooks and their accompanying functions.
100% Free and Open Source:
Best of all? The Response Core Framework and the accompanying Starter Theme is completely free, and open sourced under the GPL-2 license. The latest version of Response can always be found on our official GitHub Repository, where you can fork your own version and submit bug reports and feature requests.
