Updating Neuro Pro
There are two ways to update your existing install of Neuro Pro to the latest version. If you have FTP/SFTP access to your server, simply upload the new neuropro folder to the wp-content/themes directory, overwriting the old files with the new ones.
Or, if you would rather use the theme installer in WP-Admin, simply activate the default theme (2010), delete the old version of Neuro Pro, and then install the new zip as you normally would.
You do not have to worry about your settings being lost as they are stored to the database.

Setting the Neuro Pro Homepage
To set the Neuro Pro Homepage layout, and template create a new Page for example called “Home” then use the instructions above to assign the Page the Neuro Pro Homepage template. Then create a new Page titled “Blog” or whatever you would like to name your Blog page to be named (no need to select a template here).
Once you have created a “Blog” Page and assigned the Page “Home” with the Neuro Pro Homepage template then go to your WP-Admin dashboard, on the left-hand side locate “Settings” expand the menu, and select “Reading”.
Once you are on the “Reading Settings” page, under “Front page displays” select “A static page (select below).” Then select the Page you created that has your Neuro Pro Homepage template selected (“Home”).
Now under “Post page” select the Page that will display your standard WordPress blog. Simply select the “Blog” Page we created earlier, hit “Save Changes” at the bottom, and your Homepage is now using the Neuro Pro Homepage template, and your Blog can be found on your “Blog” Page.

Using the Menu
For complete control over Neuro Pro’s Menu, we highly recommend using the WordPress menu system. By default, any page you make becomes a link in the menu.
To begin creating your own custom menu, visit Appearance > Menus while logged into WP-Admin. Assign a name for your menu (navigation for example) and begin adding your menu items by using the options available to you in the left-hand menu. You can either make your own custom links by entering in the URL and the Label (the text that will actually show up in the menu), or by selecting and adding currently existing pages.
You may then drag and drop each item to re-order them, or to create your own custom drop-down menus by dragging pages under a parent page. Once you are done creating your menu, select it from the Header Menu drop-down list and press save menu. Now your new custom menu will appear in your menu.

Custom CSS
Using Custom CSS
Custom CSS can be used to further change the visual aspects of Neuro Pro to your liking. Some knowledge of CSS is useful, but is not required to begin using this option. We highly recommend using one of the following tools to help you determine the necessary CSS selectors to apply your custom changes: Firebug (http://getfirebug.com/) or Inspect Element (available in Google Chrome or Apple’s Safari).
Finding the selector
(note for this example we will be using Inspect Element)
Let’s say you want to change the color of the site name that is displayed in the top left corner of the header. Right click on the text and press inspect element. A new panel will open up at the bottom of your screen as shown above. The left side shows the HTML code that actually calls each element, and the right side shows the CSS class or ID. From there you would learn that the selector controlling the color is “.sitename a”. So, to change the color one would enter the following in Custom CSS:
.sitename a {color: red;}
Now the site name will display as red.
This is just one example, but there is really no limit to what you can accomplish with Custom CSS.

Using the Neuro Pro Slider
To use custom slides with the Feature Slider you’ll need to create them first.
In your WordPress Administration Panels go to “Feature Slides”
You should see three options. Feature Slides, Add New, and Slide Categories. You will also see Re-Order if you have the Post Types Order Plugin (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/post-types-order/) to control the order of your custom slides.
Before you create a slide, it would be best if you create at least one category. You can always create one or more later, but it’s best if you create one before you create the custom slide, that way you’ll have it ready when you create the custom slide. It’s also best that you categorize your slides in a naming convention that’s easy for you to relate with your slides. Like “news”, products”, or even something like Feature Slide Category 1.
To create a category you’ll need to select “Slide Categories”
- Name – Give your Slide Category a Name
- Slug – Give your Slide Category a Slug (by default WordPress will use the “Name” that was used above if nothing is inserted).
- Parent – Select a Parent category if one is available. If you haven’t created any categories, there will only be the “None” option.
- Description – Give your Slide Category if a Description if you like. Can be left blank if you so choose.
- Click “Add New Slide Category”
Now create your Slide(s)
- Select Feature Slides
- Select “Add New”. Under “Add New Post” enter the title for your slide.
- Next you’ll see the “Custom Slide Options”.
- Custom Slide Caption – Insert the text that you would like to appear at the bottom of the slider image.
- Custom Slide Link – Insert the URL of the post/page that you want the image to link to here. For example, if it’s your contact page, something similar to http://www.example.com/contact-us/ would go there.
- Custom Slide Image – Here you can add an image with the built in media uploader. Select “Choose File” than navigate to the file or you can manually enter the URL of the image location (if you have an image in your “uploads” directory you can insert the URL there).
- Slide Title Bar – On/Off. Default is On. Here you can display the title that you set earlier if you choose to. If you do not want it to show, then set this to “Off”.
- Custom Thumbnail – If you are using thumbnails with your slider, you have the option of uploading a custom thumbnail for your slide (thumbnails are generated from the slider image by default).
Slides are ordered chronologically by the post date. The newest slide will display first.
If you would like to Re-Order your custom slides, just go to Slides > Re-Order (Post Type Order plugin installation and activation required http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/post-types-order/). From there you can drag and drop your custom slides in any order, regardless of the order that they were created in.
Once you have these created you’ll then be able to activate the Feature Slider element within the page where you would like for it to appear.
To enable the Feature Slider section on Pages, navigate to that particular Edit Page in your WordPress Administration Panels by first selecting the “Pages” option directly under the “Links” option.
- Look for “Page Options”. Within that you should see “Page Elements”.
- Drag and drop the “Feature Slider” Inactive Element to the “Active Elements”. It will now be activated. Please note that you can control where it appears by its location among the other active elements. Simply drag and drop the “Feature Slider” Element above or below other Active Elements.
- Once you have the “Feature Slider” element active, you will have access to the “Neuro Pro Slider Options”. See below.
- Select Slider Type – Custom Slides/Blog Posts. Default is Custom Slides
- Custom Slide Category – Choose from the slider categories that you created earlier.
- Number of Featured Blog Posts – Default is 5.
- Slider Height – In pixels (px). Default is 330.
- Slider Delay Time (MS) – In milliseconds. 1000 milliseconds = 1 second. Default is 3500.
- Slider Animation Type – Choose how you would like your slider to animate. Horizontal-Push (default), Fade, Horizontal-Slide, Vertical Slide.
- Slider Caption Style – Choose where you would like your slider caption to be displayed. None (default), Bottom, Left, Right.
- Navigation Arrows –On/Off. Default is On. Choose whether or not you would like to display directional arrows on your slider.
- WordThumb Image Resizing – On/Off. Default is Off. This was provided in case you’re having issues with the sizes of your slider images. It is recommended to leave this off. (Due to issues in the past this feature will be depreciated and therefor is no longer recommended.)
- To disable the “Feature Slider” section for that Page, drag and drop the “Feature Slider” element to “Inactive Elements” or click on the minus “-” symbol to the left of the word “Feature Slider”.
- Click “Update” when done.

SEO Options
Home Description:
Home Description is used by search engines and sites like Facebook to display a description of your website. Enter a more detailed META description of your homepage here. For example, www.blogaboutdogs.com could use a home description of “BlogAboutDogs.com is your number one news source about everything dogs. Featuring a forum, image gallery, and an online store, and much more. “The Home Description setting is independent from any other WordPress settings, so if you do not enter any information then no META description will be set.
Home Keywords:
Keywords are used by search engines to help people find your website. Enter a series of your site’s important keywords here, each separated by a comma. You should only select keywords that are the most important and relevant to your site’s content. For example, blogaboutdogs.com could use the following home keywords: “dogs, blog, dog pictures, dog forum, pets, online pet store”. The Home Keywords setting is independent from any other WordPress settings, so if you do not enter any information here no META keywords will be set.
Optional Home Title:
By default your homepage title is your WordPress Site Title, followed by your WordPress Tagline. If you would like to over-ride the default Tagline and enter your own custom Home Title you can do so using this option. Enter the Optional Home Title of your homepage here. For example, www.blogaboutdogs.com could use a home title of “a blog dedicated to everything about dogs”. If you do not enter a value here, the tagline entered in your WordPress General Settings will be used instead (your website name will be displayed no matter which option you choose).
