    hi there,
    I am trying to show my web designer what I want. So I thought I would create my own WP site to show him. You template gives me almost everything I need for my purposes. But I can not tell how the change the color of the menu or edit the home page widgets.

    I tried this:

    Home Widget 1
    This is your first home widget box. To edit please go to Appearance > Widgets and choose 6th widget from the top in area 6 called Home Widget 1. Title is also manageable from widgets as well.

    But not luck. I do not get any Delete or Edit on those widgets. I do get these options on other widgets.
    Thanks!

    @jguerriere: If you mean the text in the boxes of the Home Widgets, once you insert a widget into the box, the text there will disappear.

    I installed it and it has these by default:

    Home Widget 1

    Home Widget 2

    Home Widget 3

    Copy on the widget is this:

    This is your first home widget box. To edit please go to Appearance > Widgets and choose 6th widget from the top in area 6 called Home Widget 1. Title is also manageable from widgets as well.

    But when I try to edit them I can not seem to get into an edit mode. I tried toggling the “Enable accessibility mode” as well. No luck.
    So I am having no luck changing them or removing them….

    @jguerriere: Take a look at https://themeid.com/docs/how-to-work-with-responsive-theme-widgets/

    You can’t edit the text in those boxes because those show by default when you have not added widgets to Areas 6 etc.

    If you’re not yet familiar with how to add widgets to boxes, this video (although a little dated) might help you, conceptually. http://youtu.be/2R_oj8kCYfs?t=50s

    As you can see, you drag and drop e.g. a text widget into the box (like Home Widget 1) and you can change the title/text of that widget, which will then show up in HW1 etc.

    The default text will disappear once a new widget has been put into the widget box/area.

    Hi jguerriere,

    You should be able to change the color of the menu using this. Just change the #000000 to whatever color you need.

    .menu {
    background-color: #000000;
    background-image: -moz-linear-gradient(center top , #000000, #000000);
    clear: both;
    margin: 0 auto;
    }

    http://themeid.com/docs/adding-custom-css/

    I’m not sure what you mean by “edit mode”. But you should just be able to drag another widget into that location as flick mentioned earlier. Also, you have a couple of javascript errors on your site that may be causing your problems. Please try deactivating all plugins to see if that helps.

    Hey, that did the trick! Thanks…
    I have been pecking through the code for a few more things. If you don’t mind, can you help me with these:

    http://partyboatcharleston.com

    Would like a bit more spacing between the logo and the nav bar.
    Changing the color of the “Book” button. I cut and pasted the code into a plain text editor and then cut and paste it back. Make life much easier. A poor mans kind of IDE I guess.

    thanks in advance.

    @jguerriere: Your theme is no longer Responsive from what I can see?

    For the call-to-action button, take a look at the Custom CSS docs: http://themeid.com/docs/custom-css/

    You should always use a plain text editor anyway for editing code :) I like Notepad++ if you ever want something with syntax highlighting.

    Thank you….You are right. Notepad works great.
    I switched between some templates so that’s probably why the responsiveness went away. I should be back now….

    Thanks!

    Hello,

    So I am try to hunt down where in the CSS I can change the button color. I cut and paste into text edit and search on Button and then Color but I can not find where I change it from the default Blue to Silver…..
    Thanks you taking time to help me. It has been about 20 years since I have looked at code. And that was SQL!

    Hi John,

    Please use pastebin for sharing long pieces of code.

    Add the colors between here
    .call-to-action a.blue{

    }

    Got it. Having spent a few hours digging through this, I have concluded a few things:

    -This is a great template

    -Wordpress is awesome

    -I am too post-technical for this.
    So, here is a question. Can anyone refer me to someone who can pay to be my site designer/developer/admin?

    Hi John,

    If you need a professional there are many places to look.

    http://cyberchimps.com/services/cyberchimps-pros/

    You could probably find quite a few on the LinkedIn WordPress groups as well.

    You could also try one of the freelance sites too I guess… like http://www.peopleperhour.com or http://www.elance.com I think?
