Please Note – This announcement does not regard or effect Responsive or Responsive Pro at all, so unless you use one of the other themes, please ignore.
Please Note – Many of you are already on the new framework and this will not effect you at all. You can see if you’re already on the new framework here.
All of our themes (both free and pro, except Responsive and Responsive Pro, which remain uneffected) have finally been moved over to the new framework!
The new framework’s code is light years better than the old framework, in quality, capability and extensibility. The design and features have also received an overhaul.
While most are happy with these improvements, naturally not everyone understands the improvements as they’re mostly “under the hood” and would prefer to remain on older versions. Ideally, you need to keep everything up-to-date for compatibility and security:
We understand that not everyone is ready to make the move to the new framework just yet or perhaps they’d rather not at all. We’re going to be opening up all the old framework pro themes on GitHub for free and for the community to take, improve and keep up-to-date however you see fit:
The time is now to move forward, into the future for the long-term betterment of the community and our products. We’ve already consolidated the new Guides to cover just the new framework (and of course Responsive and Responsive Pro have their own respective guides):
With all themes now being unified on the same framework, this will greatly improve our ability to write consistent, quality documentation that covers all themes as well as managing translations better. We’ve also opened up discussion about creating new video walkthroughs.
This is just the beginning, the new framework, documentation, translations and support certainly aren’t perfect, but we now all have a solid foundation to continually improve upon those things. The hard part of reinventing the wheel is over, now it’s time to refine. And we all have a very important hand in helping to refine the entire CyberChimps community:
We absolutely, 100%, are listening, but we’re just now only getting to a great place where we can start to make things happen.
The choice to upgrade is always yours, but please note, we will no longer be officially supporting the old framework, either in development or customer support, come September 1st.
